The Following Letter to the Editor is written by the President of Pinkhell.org who is a recent victim of M.C.S.O. (12/2/11 until 2/25/12)
“It’s time for Mean Old Joe to Go”
Mean Joe Arpaio has been sweeping the injustices of his regime under the carpet in his office for years and now the U.S. Department of Justice is here to pull back the carpet. Only a guilty man would stand on the carpet in defiance. Hopefully, the D.O.J. will sweep away all the dirt they will find there and clean up the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
Maybe now, all the inmates held in the Maricopa County jails will be treated with dignity and respect as afforded them by the United States Constitution. Decent Americans would not allow the abuse that has been going on for far too long.
Maybe now, the prisoners being held in Joe Arpaio’s jails will get fed with food that is edible, instead of the disgusting “Emu Stew” that is served to them every night of the week. (“Emu Stew” is a thick mixture of unrecognizable ingredients that taste like someone has either urinated in it or threw up on it.)
Maybe now, the starvation will end and the inmates won’t have to survive on the peanut butter and bread served for breakfast and lunch because the slop they are fed every night is just too nasty to eat. We dare anyone to take a bite of “Emu Stew” and try not to retch.
Maybe now, the county will spend more than .38 cents a day to feed an inmate.
Maybe now, the jails will turn on the heat instead of having inmates sit around shivering with thin blankets on while the Detention Officers walk around with warm coats and gloves on.
Maybe now, inmates will be given warm clothes to put on and extra blankets when they ask for them.
Maybe now, the officials of Maricopa County will have the funds needed to feed the people they lock up and keep them warm instead of the funds being pilfered and misused.
If the Maricopa County Officials can not provide humane treatment for the people they lock up then maybe they need to get out of the business of locking people up. And, the Maricopa County Officials and the State of Arizona should see to it that never again will an individual be allowed to make up his own rules on how inmates should be treated. And put in place a governing body that can expel a Sheriff.
Yes, Joe the United States Constitution has provisions in it against cruel and unusual punishment. That is why Americans will do what they can to rid the world of tyrants who subject human beings to cruel and unusual punishment, it goes against our beliefs; just look at what happened to Muammar Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein.
Well, Joe, all we have to say to you at this point is:
“Good Riddance” and shame on all the Maricopa County Officials and the state of Arizona for allowing a “Megalomaniac” to give this great state such a black eye on its 100 year anniversary.

The "Sheriff" of Maricopa County is ready to start foaming at the mouth. He has boldly attacked the sanctity of the presidency of the United States. He has wasted Maricopa County Tax-Payers dollars on
frivolous investigations and excursions. His biggest shame is his personal attack on the President just to bring attention to himself.
Arpaio continously defies Federal Agencies and their Mandates, and he outright dares these Agencies to take him to court; where he will waste even more of the Tax-Payers money.
How much longer are the people of Maricopa County going to let this "Megalomaniac" stay in office? How much longer are the "State Officials" going to let "Sheriff Joe" rant and rave ? He is an embarrassment to the proud state of Arizona which has to celebrate its centennial with a black eye because of him.
The purpose of "PinkHell" is to expose the abuse that is on-going in the Maricopa County Jails and the racial profiling against the latino community. We hope to achieve our goal of having Joe Arpaio voted out of office and to clean up the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office and it's Jail system.
Please tell us everything you want the world to know about how people are being treated by this abusive law enforcement agency. (You can read examples of this abuse at the CBS News website link listed above.)
Tell us of the physical abuse and the disrespectful treatment by Detention Officers. (D.O.s). The D.Os seem to forget or don't know that most of the people being held in jail are being detained until their cases are decided in court and they are not prison inmates who have already been sentenced and are treated as such.
Tell us about how bad the food is and how inmates are starving and being forced to have their families put money on their books just so they can get something decent to eat. And tell us how their families are over charged to make the transactions online.....$11.00 per transaction?
